How the Analysis Function supports all analysts

The Analysis Function welcomes all government analysts, whether you are affiliated to a specific profession or not. Our resources are also relevant for colleagues who work with analysts, aspiring analysts, and anyone with an interest in developing their analysis skills.

If you are not affiliated with an analytical profession, the following sources of support are available to you:

  • Boosting your success: support for analysts – information, guidance, and resources from across government to support all analysts, including user journeys, learning and development (L&D) lists, information on careers in analysis, and much more
  • Events – dial into regular Analysis Function virtual events that are free and open to all, plus find out about analysis-themed events taking place across government
  • Analysis in Government (AiG) Month – the UK’s largest L&D event for government analysts takes place every May, with 30+ live virtual events that are free and open for everyone to dial into
  • Connect with analysts in your area and across government – find colleagues in your area and develop your professional network
  • Analysis in Government (AiG) Awards – held every winter, and open to all civil servants, the AiG Awards recognises and celebrates the very best of government analysis. Colleagues outside of the Civil Service may also be nominated in the Collaboration category if they worked with civil servants on the nominated project
  • A strategy for analysis in government (2025-28) – discover more about the importance of analysis in government, and current strategy
