In 2022 the Scottish Government set up an innovative leadership training programme for statisticians called Fit for the Future. The programme takes participants on a deep dive into personal development and helps them develop their leadership skills to promote innovation and change in their teams.

Fit for the Future offers a highly interactive learning experience covering topics, including:

  • design thinking
  • imposter phenomenon
  • psychological safety
  • open source software

The programme encourages staff to explore how different ways of working, combined with modern technologies, can help them and the people the people they work with become more innovative and better respond to change. Scottish Government are about to embark upon their fourth cohort for the programme.
