Office for Statistics Regulation (part of UK Statistics Authority)

Business, trade and economic statistics are more important than ever. Do you want to help develop the way that they are produced and used to maximise their public value?

The Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR) is the UK’s independent regulator of statistics. Our role is to enhance public confidence in statistics. We are part of the UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) but independent from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

We have a single aim to ensure that statistics serve the public good. This involves ensuring they are produced in a trustworthy way, are of high quality, and provide value by:

  • answering people’s questions
  • providing accountability
  • helping people make choices
  • informing policy

Our regulators work together to embrace this challenge. They work on topic areas such as Business Trade and International Development, the Economy, and the Labour Market and Welfare.

You will lead on a range of regulatory projects, which could involve things like responding to emerging areas of concern about the production and use of business and economic statistics, or long-term reviews of UK Trade statistics published by ONS. Recent examples include international comparisons of the effect of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on GDP and statistics on the levels of financial sanctions on Russia.
