This course is designed for anyone who wants to gain a better understanding of the basic considerations for data collection activities and processes.
The course will introduce how to design your data collection tool. The course covers qualitative research methods and survey design. We will discuss how qualitative methodologies can be used both for their own research purposes, or to inform survey design.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, you should:
- understand data collection design and the processes involved
- begin to identify when certain qualitative research methods may or may not be appropriate for your data collection
- understand the importance of designing your data collection based on user needs
- be aware of the considerations you need to make when analysing and reporting on qualitative data
- identify any areas where you feel you need further training
How to access
The course has been split into three modules:
- Module 1: Preparing for your data collection
- Module 2: Survey development and testing
- Module 3: Qualitative research methods and analysis
You do not have to complete all modules at once, but they should be completed in order to maximise understanding.
