User engagement guidance and advice

The resources are aimed at Government Statistical Service (GSS) colleagues, but anyone interested in engaging with users of statistics is welcome to use them.

Frameworks for user engagement

The GSS user engagement strategy for statistics is designed to help ensure official statistics meet society’s needs.

User engagement is embedded in the Code of Practice for statistics. A collection of guidance for meeting the Code of Practice is available on the Office for Statistics Regulation website.

The Analysis Function team has produced some guidance titled ‘Accessibility legislation: what you need to know‘.  This guidance explains accessibility and how to make sure your content accessible to all users.

The Government Digital Service provide guidance titled ‘Content design: planning, writing and managing content‘. This guidance describes how to use content data and Google Analytics to make your work more visible and to understand how users interact with it.

Turning knowledge into action is a process created by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) for using data to make sure products meet the needs of users.
