This virtual session is hosted by the Devolution Capability Team in the UK Governance Group. The session will feature the UK’s National Statistician, Professor Sir Ian Diamond, and the Chief Analyst at the Department for Levelling Up, Stephen Aldridge. They will explore how coherent, comparable UK-wide evidence can enable better policy-making, including by facilitating learning from devolved government approaches.

Sir Ian and Stephen will be joined by external contributors from the Open University and the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence, who will discuss:

  • the importance of UK-wide evidence and analysis
  • how to build and maintain your own UK-wide datasets for the benefit of better public policy

This session is suitable for analytical professionals from both the UK Government and devolved governments, along with interested devolution specialists and policy professionals.
