Interactive skills assessment tool
This tool supports government analysts in delegated grades (AA to Grade 6) to assess their skills against those expected for their role and grade. It’s also a helpful resource for anyone considering a career in the Analysis Function, offering insight into the skills required across different roles. The roles included in this tool are based on the Analysis Function role profiles.
Once you complete the assessment, you’ll receive a summary of your results, including learning recommendations to help address any skills gaps. You can print or download your results for future reference. Printing your results to PDF provides clickable links to any recommended training.
We encourage you to discuss your results and learning suggestions with your line manager. The recommendations include a wide range of resources, and a conversation can help prioritise the most relevant learning for your role and support your development planning.
Please note that:
- skills profiles are not available for every role at every grade, so some role-grade combinations may return no results
- some roles and learning recommendations are still being added as the Analysis Function Capability team works with professions to update this content for future versions of the tool
We are working to address these gaps in future iterations.
Please do not refresh or leave the page during your assessment as your progress will not be saved.
If you have any questions, notice an issue, or would like to share feedback, please contact: Analysis.Function@ons.gov.uk.
