Welsh Government are recruiting at least 3 statistics undergraduate placement students. Placements are 52 weeks long and commence Summer 2022.

This is your opportunity to gain experience of working as a Government Statistician undertaking tasks such as:

  • Preparation of statistical publications and ministerial briefs.
  • Preparation of statistical tables and charts to help illustrate messages in data, and extraction of key points.
  • Data manipulation, including extraction of specific items of data from larger datasets and cross-tabulation of these data.
  • Answering requests for data from a variety of internal and external sources.
  • Supporting data management, including efficient storage of data.
  • Liaison with and support to providers in collecting and validating data.

Please note that this scheme is only open to undergraduate students in their sandwich year at university or to students who, after their second year at university have opted to take a year out. You must be studying for a degree in a numerate discipline (such as statistics, mathematics, economics, psychology or geography) whose degree contains a statistical element.
