The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Met’s Rebuilding Trust team (RBT) on an initial 8 week temporary attachment. The current terms and conditions of your Civil Service role will apply for this temporary attachment role.

The successful candidate will lead our analysis of the Met’s Command Assessment of Standards as well as other data orientated projects. The analysis will be mainly qualitative.

You will work closely with senior leaders to provide critical analytical leadership for the Command Assessment of Standards data analysis. You would have the opportunity to design, produce and evaluate the analysis of the Command Assessment of Standards and other RBT priorities.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • leading on the creation, development and production of the qualitative analysis of the Command Assessment of Standards within the Metropolitan Police
  • developing high quality, insightful analytical products that support strategic decision-making
  • writing and developing papers for the Management Board and senior leaders
  • working at pace to understand operational and strategic requirements – you will also communicate these requirements  to the wider RBT team
  • operating within a complex organisational or political environment – you will need to have an understanding the strategic context surrounding the Met to consider its effect on priorities

Minimum requirements

To apply for this role you will need:

  • two satisfactory references from current or recent line managers
  • the ability to be released from your current role as quickly as possible – ideally this will be within 2 weeks
  • to be available throughout most of August and September

Essential criteria

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • strong leadership skills, with the ability to own projects, create change and produce tangible outcomes
  • to be able to build and maintain relationships with important stakeholders
  • to be able to produce timely, high quality and insightful products and effective reports relevant to senior audiences
  • to communicate strategic data and findings in a meaningful and comprehensive manner to senior leaders, staff and external stakeholders to support corporate and operational priorities and inform board decision making, – this includes using both written and verbal communication methods
  • good analytical skills
  • the ability to prepare and present clear, concise analysis on different complex issues – this includes the ability to choose formats that are suitable for a variety of audiences
  • to be able to lead discussions on the work of your team and influence senior decision making
  • to have experience of analysing qualitative and quantitative data to tight deadlines, in a fast-paced environment
  • to have experience of data management, and be able to organise data in line with recognised standards and sharing data securely in line with legislation

Period of posting

This is an initial 8 week post with potential for a four week extension. The Met will agree with the successful candidate’s organisation an attachment agreement.

Location

The primary place of work for the successful candidate will be New Scotland Yard. Remote working is supported when circumstances allow.

Vetting level

For this role you will need Recruitment Vetting (RV) and a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC).
