Job description

The team aim to drive increased pace and accuracy into the acquisition system; staying ahead of adversaries and delivering capability to the front line when it is needed to meet the emerging threats. The Ministry of Defence is driving a bold continuous improvement programme to achieve this.

The Directorate of Acquisition and Project Delivery (DAPD), which brings together management of the DMPP, the Project Delivery Function and oversight and delivery of Acquisition Reform is responsible for driving this agenda forward in conjunction with the Front-Line Commands, Enabling Organisations and acquisition related functions.

This is a key role in the Portfolio (Insight and Impacts) team.

The role of the Insights Analyst is to use a range of data sources (quantitative and qualitative) to understand the health of the defence acquisition system and the systemic issues affecting programme delivery, to identify the root causes of these issues, and to use the insights generated to inform recommendations on what action may be required to drive improvements.

Key responsibilities

  • Developing repeatable, quality assured approaches for analysing data, establishing indicators for a range of system health measures and identifying trends in those measures over time.
  • Monitoring these system health measures to assess the impact of change to the system, and identity where corrective action may be required.
  • Generating insight by identifying and capturing the measurable evidence of any common issues that are impacting on programme delivery and their root causes, or any opportunities for systemic improvement.
  • Proposing where interventions on corrective action may be required, supporting evidence-based decisions to drive systemic improvement.
