Take part in the survey on generative AI in qualitative data and methods
The Centre for Equalities and Inclusion (based in the National Statistician’s Office at the Office for National Statistics) is conducting a survey across government. The survey seeks to understand how generative artificial intelligence (AI) is used in connection with qualitative data and methods.
The team are keen to hear from anyone whose work involves collecting, analysing or interpreting qualitative data. For example, this might include designing topic guides, carrying out interviews, or identifying patterns in data.
The team want to hear from you whether you currently use generative AI, have used it in the past, or have never used it.
Your responses will help the team understand:
- the opportunities and challenges of using generative AI in qualitative work
- what AI guidance is used across government
- whether there is a need to develop government-wide guidance for the use of generative AI with qualitative data
You can take part in the survey by completing the online form. The survey takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Your responses will be de-identified.
The survey will close on Wednesday 7 October 2026. If you have any questions, please contact Equalities@ons.gov.uk.
