About the event
The Government Social Research (GSR) Profession stands at the heart of evidence-based policy, shaping decisions that affect lives across the United Kingdom. This strategy draws on the voices and experiences of researchers at every stage of their careers.
During this event the central GSR team will take you through the Profession’s vision for 2025 and beyond and the 5 key goals the strategy is built around. We will then hear exciting and innovative GSR case studies around each of these goals, alongside senior leaders from both within and outside Government, including:
- Cat Little, Chief Operating Officer for the Civil Service and Permanent Secretary to the Cabinet Office
- Stian Westlake, Chair of the Economic and Social Research Council
- Laura Gilbert, Senior Director, AI, Tony Blair Institute for Global Change
- Emma Rourke, Acting National Statistician, Office for National Statistics
A full agenda will be shared closer to the time of the event.

This event is open to all GSR members, as well as all those who work with them or would like to know more across government and beyond.
