Join Dr Helen Blakely of Cardiff University and Deanne Rebane (community activist and development worker in Merthyr Tydfil) to hear about Helen’s new book Women, Work and the Everyday Politics of Welfare (2025). The book discusses the everyday politics of welfare through its rhetorical imaginings, the practices of street level workers and across the interactions of women themselves. It draws on longitudinal research involving ethnographic and narrative inquiry in the South Wales Valleys.
