About this event
This Global Network Webinar welcomes Karla Yee Amezaga (World Economic Forum) who will speak about “AI Governance and Data Sovereignty”.
As AI reshapes economies, institutions and societies, data sovereignty is emerging as a practical governance challenge rather than a purely legal or geopolitical concern. This webinar will examine how sovereignty should be understood not as isolation or self-sufficiency, but as strategic control, resilience and trusted interdependence across the data and AI value chain.
Moving beyond narrow debates on localisation, the session will explore why sovereignty must reflect the differentiated capacities of states, cities, communities, platforms and multilateral actors. With AI agents and cross-border data use raising new questions of confidentiality, equity and control, the discussion will focus on governance models, interoperable standards and regional collaboration that enable innovation while safeguarding agency, trust and shared value.
