Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub

Welcome to the Analysis Function Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub.

AI is rapidly changing the way analysis is carried out across government. As the volume, complexity, and pace of evidence demands continue to grow, AI can offer new opportunities to enhance how analysts work – from speeding up routine tasks to supporting richer insights, rigorous evaluation, and more timely advice to decision makers.

AI is already becoming part of everyday analytical practice. It can summarise complex evidence, help with coding and modelling, support quality assurance, and free up time for deeper thinking and expertise.

When used well, AI can increase the consistency, speed and accessibility of analysis while strengthening – not replacing – professional judgement.

But to realise these benefits safely and responsibly, analysts need clear guidance, high‑ quality examples, and spaces to learn from one another. The Analysis Function AI Hub has been created to meet that need.

The AI Hub supports the priorities set out in “A strategy for analysis in government 2025 to 2028“. Most notably:

“We will be innovative, driving efficiency across our function, the civil service and society, applying artificial intelligence, automation, and the best analytical tools and methods.”

By providing consistent guidance and a shared evidence base, the AI Hub strengthens analytical capability across government, ensuring AI is used in a way that reflects the standards expected of the Analysis Function.

AI does not replace analytical expertise – it enhances it. Human oversight is essential to ensure that analysis remains ethical, accurate and aligned with government values. Analysts are responsible for:

  • understanding the limitations of AI tools
  • validating outputs
  • assessing risks such as bias or data leakage
  • making the professional judgement that ultimately shapes advice to ministers and the public

Every case study and resource in this AI Hub reflects the principle of keeping the ‘human‑in‑the‑loop‘. AI can support analytical tasks, but analysts remain accountable for the decisions, interpretations and safeguards that underpin trustworthy government analysis.

This hub is designed to provide government analysts with a single, authoritative, navigable entry point to existing, approved AI‑related guidance, resources, learning materials, and foundational information.
