Privacy notice for Analysis Function Capability Team & Government Statistical Service (GSS) Careers Team

The Analysis Function is a diverse community made up of thousands of analysts across government who provide the evidence and insights that matter for decision-makers and the public.

How we collect your data
We collect your data when you:
- are invited to an Analysis Function Capability or GSS careers activity or event
- complete a feedback or evaluation form relating to the Analysis Function or GSS
- use a capability tool offered by the Analysis Function capability or GSS careers team
The purposes for which your personal data is being processed
Your personal data is collected and maintained for the purpose of providing services to the Analysis Function Capability or GSS Careers Team. Specifically, this data allows the team to:
- build a community within the Analysis Function and GSS
- learn from and improve our events and workshops following first hand feedback
- develop capability interventions for the Analysis Function and GSS community
The legal basis for processing
Data protection legislation requires that all processing of personal data is undertaken under one or more of a set list of conditions. Unless stated otherwise the Analysis Function and Government Statistical Service (GSS) processing of personal data for capability activities is conducted under the following reasons:
- processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller
- for the processing of special category data we are relying on explicit consent
How long we keep your data for
Your data will be held for analysis purposes and each record will only be held for five years after the individual has left a role within the profession, or any role within the Civil Service. After this time any individual’s data will be deleted.
Who we share your personal data with
Your personal data will only be used within the Analysis Function Capability and GSS Careers Team to help shape capability interventions. Aggregated anonymised data may be shared with relevant boards or working groups to support the Analysis Function and GSS people priorities.
Your rights as a data subject
As a data subject, or someone whose personal data we hold, you have rights available to you under data protection legislation. If you want us to stop processing your personal data, please contact the GSS Careers team at GSS.careers@ons.gov.uk. Doing this will limit our ability to target specific communications about opportunities in the future.
