Members required for panels on migration statistics
We are actively seeking members to join the two new panels after a review of the governance and engagement on migration statistics. Applications are open until 5 May.
The UKSA recently announced the new chair of the advisory panel on migration statistics. This represents a development in how the Office for National Statistics (ONS) is ensuring robust external input into its methods and approaches for international migration statistics.
National Statistician’s advisory panel for migration statistics
The panel will provide independent advice to the National Statistician on the quality and utility of long-term international migration estimates.
Through the committee, these members will review the accuracy and usability of the breadth of migration statistics. The committee will consider, interpret, and advise on the priority needs based on user feedback and policy context.

Methodological assurance review panel sub-group on migration statistics
Alongside the advisory panel, a sub-group of the methodological assurance review panel (MARP) will be established to specifically focus on international migration. The members will be pivotal in providing expert, independent input and guidance on methodology used in these crucial statistics.
This role offers the chance to shape the development of official statistics by offering challenge and suggestions to support improvements in methodology.
We are looking for those with technical knowledge of statistical methods and the ability to review methodology, identify gaps and make suggestions for improvements to statistical methods.
