Announcing the 2025 Analysis in Government Awards People’s Choice winner

Since the winners and runners-up in the fifth Analysis in Government (AiG) Awards were announced in February, the Analysis Function community have been voting for their ultimate People’s Choice Award winner.

Last week’s prestigious winner’s celebration event was the ideal backdrop to celebrate all winners and announce who has won the coveted final award. For the first time we held a hybrid event with colleagues in attendance in London as well as joining in online. We even combined our online call with award winners Ofsted, who joined us from their team away day!

Head of the Analysis Function and National Statistician, Sir Ian Diamond joined our senior sponsor Jane Whittaker, (Director HM Revenue and Customs) to welcome all AiG Award winners, giving everyone an opportunity to share highlights, hear what senior leaders had to say about their work and to say a little something to praise their teams in person.

Praising all award winners and runners-up, Sir Ian said:

“I am proud to work with each and every one of you” and that “the event was fantastic; Jane and I feel very privileged to be here and hear all of these fantastic stories. Everybody here should feel unbelievably proud of what you have done!”

Rounding up the event, and the 5th AiG Awards season, Sir Ian revealed the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

The winning entry

The Programme for Government (PfG) Wellbeing Framework Development team in Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA), for their work on the Northern Ireland Programme for Government Wellbeing Framework.

The two teams involved in this collaboration have ensured that evidence in the form of official statistics is right at the heart of NI government decision making. The Well-being Framework they have developed and promoted has been published alongside the draft NI Programme for Government. It has undoubtedly raised the profile and strategic importance of our outputs and the analytical community in Northern Ireland.

Judges commented that this felt like a game-changing approach, where the team had to convince seniors and ministers of a fundamentally new approach and then delivered it. Achieved across-the-board positive endorsement of the final product.

Congratulations to the winning team!
