Announcing all winning entries in the Analysis in Government Awards 2022

On this prestigious day we celebrate the excellent analysis work conducted across government. Our panel of esteemed judges have reached a decision and today we are excited to announce the winners of the 2022 Analysis in Government (AiG) Awards!

Not only that, you can vote for the Winner or Runner Up you are most inspired by, in our very first People’s Choice Award. The overall favourite will be announced at the Analysis in Government Awards Celebration Day at the end of February so make sure to get your votes in and we’ll see you at the event!

Collaboration

This award recognises collaboration between teams, departments, other professions as well as with external organisations and researchers to produce a piece of analysis or analytical project.

Winner

The NHS Quality, Safety and Investigations Analytical Team at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) for their work on ‘A call for evidence to inform England’s first Women’s Health Strategy’.

The runner-up of the collaboration award is…

The Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) National Data Resource (NDR) Learning Programme Team in Welsh Government for their ‘All Wales Analytics Learning Programme’.

Two highly commended awards go to:

  • the Better Outcomes Through Linked Data (BOLD) Team at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) for ‘Collaboration in the Better Outcomes Through Linked Data (BOLD) Programme’
  • the cross-government Police Collaboration Team for police collaboration through the Digital Crime and Performance Pack

Innovative Methods

This award recognises innovative methods or techniques of analysis which led to new insight, answered complex questions, or improved efficiency.

Winner

The Social Science Team in Food Standards Agency (FSA) for their project ‘Kitchen Life 2’.

Two highly commended awards go to:

  • the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Support Scheme Compliance Estimates team at HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) for Knowledge, Analysis and Intelligence (KAI) COVID-19 Analysis, Co-ordination and Evaluation (CACE)
  • the Grants Data Analysis and Reporting Team at the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) for ‘developing monitoring data collection systems and visualisation dashboards’

Communication

This award celebrates those who have successfully used clear communications to present analysis, considering needs of the audience. This could be an example of public-facing or internal communication within teams, departments or across professions.

Winner

The Demographic Statistics and Vital Events team in National Records of Scotland (Scottish Government) for the ‘Who lives in Scotland?’ documentary.

This award recognises outstanding analysis which has been impactful through use, influenced decision-making or contributed to public debate.

The COVID-19 Analysis, Co-ordination and Evaluation (CACE) COVID Compliance Team at HMRC for their work on COVID-19 Support Scheme Compliance Estimates.

This award recognises an outstanding contribution in making the Analysis Function (AF) a more inclusive function, reflective of the citizens we serve.

Winner

The Government Economics Social Research (GESR) Operations Team at HM Treasury for their work on the Government Economic Service (GES) Apprenticeship.

The Professor Sir Ian Diamond Excellence Award 2022

This award recognises an individual that has displayed excellence in championing, promoting, or growing the Analysis Function. This could be by highlighting analysis across government, developing our people, inspiring analysts, or delivering better outcomes for the citizen.

Winner

Catherine Hutchinson who is part of the Evaluation Task Force in Cabinet Office.
