Brief description

The harmonised standard sets out how to collect and report statistics about economic activity status to ensure statistics about this topic are as comparable as possible across the Government Statistical Service (GSS).

NS-SEC rebased on SOC2020

The current harmonised standard for National Statistics Socio-economic Classifications (NS-SEC) is based on the 2010 Standard Occupational Classification for the UK (SOC2010). This classification has since been replaced by the 2020 Standard Occupational Classification for the UK (SOC2020). Anyone using NS-SEC should use the approach of the NS-SEC rebased on SOC2020.
