About the role

This role will lead on a critical aspect of the ‘develop capability’ work programme – to conduct a Civil Service wide audit of analytical capability, with a particular focus on Policy Officials.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity to lead on a high-profile piece of work, working in partnership with the Policy Profession and engaging with senior stakeholders across government. Shaping this piece of work from start to finish, you will have the opportunity to lead and manage this project, consulting with subject matter experts to define the full scope, approach, methods and outcomes.

Commissioned by the Cabinet Office as part of the wider Civil Service reform agenda, the high-profile nature of this activity will allow the role holder to engage with senior stakeholders from across the Analysis Function, Policy Profession and Cabinet Office; working collaboratively to conduct an audit and make recommendations to up analytical capability amongst policy officials.

This role is based within the Office for National Statistics, working alongside the Government Analysis Function central team. You will be responsible for the management of one analyst whose role it is to support the delivery of this project, advising on best practice methods of research and analysis.
